About
What the F is this all about?
Well, BT Sport have created “The Script of The season” whereby they have, alongside leading football statistics, and leading AI (Artificial Intelligence) gurus, compiled a document which attempts to Predict the Premier League Season 2019/20.
Of course, they are unable to completely predict how the Premier League season will go, and the BT Sport “The Script” even goes as far to say that. However, they have taken data from all previous Premier League seasons, and a tonne of other information, whacked it into a big computer to come up with a prediction, and this is how it has ended up.
PLEASE go to the URL to check this document out. It is absolutely fascinating. I am going to be using screenshots and images from this document, and all credit is going to BT Sport, and not myself. Please be clear of that.
What am I doing then?
I LOVE statistics. I LOVE football. I play Fantasy Football and Football Manager, and like every other passionate football fan, I talk about transfers, team news, matches, and try to analyse everything. Every now and again, I like to put a “cheeky accumulator” on the footie, but now I have two kids who take up most of my time, I rarely bother. I never won anything anyway – and am not an avid gambler.
I have decided to use all of the results that The Script is predicting week by week, to place two bets.
The first bet will be the exact score, what The Script is predicting for each game week, on all teams.
The second bet is a “home, away or draw” bet on each of the results predicted – without placing the exact score. I.e. Liverpool 4-0 Norwich City (as predicted by The Script for game week 1) I would be placing that exact result, but for the second bet, I will be saying “home win”.
How much am I betting
I am not putting a tremendous amount of money on these bets. I am placing a bet of £1.50, which breaks down as follows;
£1 on the exact score, as predicted by The Script
£0.50 on the home, away or draw result, as predicted by The Script.
We know that if the first bet comes in, I will automatically win the second – but I wanted to test actually how accurate this thing really is.
By the end of the season, I will have spent a mere £57, but the rewards are potentially huge. I will not deviate from The Script of the Season, and I will not be increasing the amount that I am betting each week.
After all, if I lose £60 across 38 weeks, it’s not the end of the world is it? It’s just a bit of fun!
Progress
Every week, I will be updating my progress by showing you the predicted results, the actual results and the bets I placed – and how close I was to actually winning
Wish me luck! and if you’re interested in following, don’t forget to subscribe!
